Warm Winter Blankets

Today on this freezing rainy day we loaded a bakkie, overflowing with warm winter blankets and handed them over to the children of Nomthandazo Children's Care Centre in Zenzele. It's been so cold due to it snowing on the Magaliesberg Mountains, here in the built up areas we feel the cold, but out there in Zenzele it's absolutely freezing! When the children saw the bakkie smiles lit their faces, just like everytime we pull up there, which in turn put smiles on ours. It's amazing to see just how appreciative the children are, even posing out in the cold next to the blankets they've recieved without the slightest hesitation. These children at the end of the day, regardless of their situation are just like any other...Full of smiles and energy!
A big thank you to everyone involved in our Winter Warmer drive. We are so appreciative

Easter Party 2009

On Saturday 28 March we enjoyed our annual Easter Party. The weather played into our hands in setting the scene for the party. We arrived early and set up the venue with balloons and party packs, we finished just as the children arrived. Their faces lit up when they saw what was in store for them. They all lined up and sang a few songs for us and then it was play time. Out they went with our volunteers for the day, riding pony's, driving cars, meeting the farm animals and playing on the jungle gyms. They had a ball!!! We had a laughter session with Shareen Richter of Laughter Yoga, she had us all in stiches! Then it was time for lunch from KFC. By that time things were cooling down and the children grew sleepy. Time for the journey home.
A special thanks to all the sponsors and contributors of the event, it was a great success.
Thank you to the volunteers and sonsors that were there on the day:

ON BEHALF OF ALL OF US HERE AT OLIVER’S HOUSE THANK YOU FOR HELPING US WITH OUR FEEDING NEEDY FAMILIES PROJECT.

Helping Needy Families

Nomthandazo Children's Care Centre is situated in Daveyton and cares for 170 disadvantaged children from the ages of 6 months to six years old. For the last 5 years we have been running a soup kitchen from the centre and currently we are feeding around 100 families a day.

We have launched a project where we will be handing out food parcels to these families and we would like you to get involved by sponsoring a family or making a donation towards the cost of these groceries. We have found that an average cost of feeding a family is R380.00 per fortnight. Each Hamper consists of the following:

Grocery Item Unit Cost x100

Maize Meal 12.5kg R4395.00

Oil 2ltr R1995.00

Pilchards 4x425g R4200.00

We rely entirely on the private sector and in order to help us in raising the necessary funding we offer a variety of hampers to you for sponsoring a family. We will be trying our best to hand out food parcels every alternate friday but if we cannot meet that quota we are commited to handing out food parcels once a month. We invite you to join us or monitor our progress right here on the website.

We sincerely hope that you are able to assist us in maintaining this project.
